Accurate matching
Two students taking the same subject may follow different qualifications and papers. We confirm the course before choosing a tutor or teaching resources.
Five clear steps
We first establish whether the student follows a UK A-Level, International A-Level or standalone AS pathway.
We identify AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, Cambridge International or Pearson Edexcel International A-Level before choosing resources.
Weekly support, one difficult topic, mocks, final revision and resits each require a different teaching plan.
Matching considers subject expertise, qualification familiarity, student level, teaching approach, communication and availability.
The free 30-minute trial lets the student assess the tutor's explanations, subject knowledge and overall fit. Rematching is available.
Qualification matters
Parents often use A-Level as one general term, but specification, assessment structure and question style can differ. We confirm the exact route before matching or planning lessons.
Support for selected UK specifications and their board-specific assessment requirements.
International qualifications can use different structures, specifications and assessment routes.
Cambridge International AS & A Level
Support for international learners developing deeper subject understanding and independent thinking.
Pearson Edexcel International AS/A Level
Modular support for most subjects, with International AS available separately or as a stage towards the full International A-Level.
Pearson Edexcel International A-Level Chemistry should not automatically receive the same preparation as AQA A-Level Chemistry. Content may overlap, but the specification, assessment structure and question style are not identical.
Subject specialists
Each subject page carries the detailed specialist intent while this hub helps families choose the right route.
Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Mechanics, with clear working, multi-step problem solving and timed exam practice.
Further Pure Mathematics, complex numbers, matrices, further calculus, mechanics and statistics.
Conceptual understanding, experimental reasoning, data interpretation and precise extended responses.
Physical, inorganic and organic chemistry, calculations, practical understanding and exam application.
Mathematical reasoning, physical concepts, practical data and multi-step examination questions.
Economic theory, application, chains of reasoning, quantitative skills and balanced evaluation.
Case-study application, quantitative techniques, analysis, evaluation and strategic decision-making.
Programming, algorithms, data structures, databases, networks and written examination technique.
The GCSE to A-Level jump
A-Level requires greater depth, independence, reasoning and problem solving. A strong GCSE result does not prevent early A-Level gaps from appearing.
Year 12 tuition can identify whether the problem is missing prerequisite knowledge, a weak A-Level topic, exam technique, workload management or application rather than understanding.
Exam application
A student may understand a topic and still lose marks. One-to-one tuition identifies the reason instead of simply asking the student to revise it again.
A student may define price elasticity of demand correctly but underperform because the answer does not apply the concept, stops after one chain of reasoning, lacks evidence or gives little evaluation. The lesson should turn knowledge into a stronger exam response, not simply reteach elasticity.
Biology, Chemistry and Physics may require mathematical, experimental and practical reasoning as well as factual recall.
The right support window
Build A-Level foundations, close early gaps, prepare for internal assessments and develop stronger independent study habits.
Tackle difficult second-year content, make synoptic connections and prepare for mocks, timed papers and final examinations.
Support for selected standalone AS and International AS routes after the exact qualification has been confirmed.
Consistent support throughout Year 12 or Year 13.
Focused tuition for one demanding topic or unit.
Priority revision for school mocks and predicted-grade assessments.
Structured revision and timed practice before final papers.
A targeted plan for supported papers, units and qualifications.
Professional CRM
Online tuition should not depend on scattered messages, forgotten homework and separate documents. The Professional CRM keeps parents, students, tutors and academy support aligned.
Sessions and timings
Upcoming lessons, subjects, tutors and session times.
Study resources
Resources organised around current schoolwork and academic priorities.
Homework
Practice linked to weak topics, assessments and past-paper goals.
Tutor feedback
Clear strengths, remaining mistakes and next steps.
Mock tests
Topic tests and examination-style assessments.
Performance reports
Progress and changing academic priorities over time.
Academy oversight
Support with scheduling, tutor issues, coordination and rematching.
Support requests
A direct route to academy support beyond the individual lesson.
Tutor standards
Academic qualifications, subject background, teaching experience and curriculum experience.
The ability to explain difficult A-Level concepts clearly, not simply know the subject.
Familiarity with content, qualification expectations, boards and exam-style application.
Explanation, questioning, student involvement and confident digital delivery.
Every tutor is either UK-qualified or trained by British examiners. Individual examiner credentials appear only when verified.

Parent of A-Level Student · Manchester
“My son started tutoring for A-Level Physics about three months before his exams. His tutor was incredibly patient and broke down complex topics like electromagnetic induction into simple, intuitive steps. He ended up getting an A* which we genuinely didn't think was possible. I'd recommend Combo Tutors to any parent who wants a tutor that actually cares about your child's progress.”

“A-Level Biology felt impossible until I found Combo Tutors. My tutor made complex topics accessible and I went from borderline pass to a solid A. I would not have got into my first-choice university without that result.”
